The silk screen process is very similar to the offset printing of a lapel pin. Silk screen pins offer a great deal of detail produced in full color, and because this process allows colors to bleed all the way to the edges, it becomes a great option for a custom pin.
Silk screen printing is also known as "laser printing" or "serigraphy", it allows the printing of designs with a precise and identified number of colors. This is also a cheaper alternative to the Photo Etching with Soft Enamel process for larger quantity promotional projects. The process of silk screen printing can be done on materials such as brass, stainless steel and aluminium. Their standard thickness is 0.8mm and can include a plating such as gold, silver, nickel, black nickel or copper. These type of lapel pins can include a protective epoxy coating, it especially important that printed articles be ordered with epoxy protection to improve the lifetime and quality of the lapel pin. These can also include an additional process such as laser engraving or photo engraving. |
